I started playing the trombone aged 8 - I wanted a trumpet, but my last name was late in the alphabet, and all the trumpets had gone by the time the music teacher got round to me. After reaching grade 6 in secondary school, I stopped taking exams and started playing for fun, joining the Aberdeenshire youth Concert Band, and finding Jazz workshops around the north-east. Unfortunately music was put to one side when I began working as a circus artist, but in 2004 I was invited to join the now legendary Orkestra Del Sol, and started playing regularly again. Since then I have toured with the Orkestra in the UK and Europe, worked on several musical theatre projects, and played as a session musician with Amanda Palmer of the Dresden Dolls. In 2007 due to relocation I left Orkestra Del Sol, but am always looking out for new projects to work on.
